 Migraines
Are there types of foods or techiniques I can use to prevent migraines? I get really bad migraines when driving, and have an extreme sensitivity to light and must wear sunglasses. Sometimes, but not often, I get such severe migraines that I have to lay down for hours and pray that the pain goes away that I experience.
Surely there is something I can do?

the one thing that i've been told on how to deal with mine is the following:
go to sleep and wake up at exactly the same time EVERY day ... no partying, no sleep overs, no saturday morning snooze fests
avoid processed foods like hot dogs and balognas ... there's a chemical used in them that not only causes irritability in most people, especially younger children, but can also bring on an onset of a migraine

Thanks for the advice. I am curious as to why the sleep cure may work. I have noticed that if I lose out on a lot of sleep, and get up early, I will be more likely to develop a major migraine. It doesn't happen often, but enough to the point where I definately want to prevent them.
Not a big fan of them

you know, i was never really told why, but i would imagine it's one less thing your body has to be concerned about to stress itself out ... "will i get enough sleep tonight? she's not in bed yet, if she doesn't go to bed soon i won't have enough sleep to get up early and feed the horses and then cook breakfast and then go to school and then run nine miles and then go to the weight room and then go to work and then work on newspaper, etc. etc." ... that's my only guess, but it works, so i'm not going to complain ... it's difficult, but the more i follow the same sleep regimen, the better off i am ...

Perhaps it isn't entirely migraines either, I just assume it is. I get intense eye aches, and it feels like I have a 'headache' in both eyes. I can't look at anything too light, or it gets worse. The only thing that helps is sleep. I've tried aspirin, which I was actually told might make them worse. I've tried other OTC items, but nothing works.
Anything I can do after they happen, rather than prevent them?

Headache is a symptom and sign of some serious disease. So, you should consult your doctor who will investigate and treat you properly.
Ok..whenever you get migraine, just eat 10-12 almonds. It works wonder!
