 Running or Walking?
So,im trying to devise a good workout program that i can stick with, and help me lose some weight. Is it better to try and run 1 mile,or do a fast walk routine on the treadmill for about 2 miles?I think i can do a fast walk, not sure on the running part

 Re: Running or Walking?
If you're new to working out, I would probably start out by walking. As far as losing weight goes and to answer your question, running is better than walking as its more of an intense activity. The more intense the exercise, the more calories and fat you'll burn.

 Re: Running or Walking?
If you are new to the workouts, definitely start by walking. Unless you feel you can really do a pretty good run. Running takes some time. And it takes some ambition. I fight with running daily!

 Re: Running or Walking?
If you want to lose weight you should walk a lot. It's the best.Don't start losing weight by joining gym.First start walking, get fit and then you can join the gym.

 Re: Running or Walking?
I try to run 3-4 miles a day, then if I get time in the evening, love to do a nice 30 minute walk.. It seems to help me!

 Re: Running or Walking?
I want to ask that in between running & walking what must be practiced regularly? Which one is more beneficial for our health? Are both necessary & practiced timely?

Hi jeffro241, When I started exercise 6 months before I start with walking, then jogging and finally running. I increased my distance gradually and build my stamina first before going for jogging. provo gym
