 Sweating it out
Some people sweat more than the others because everyone?s body chemistry varies. As a teenager, you might notice more sweat all over and your underarms, feet and the genital area might also have a new smell. Sweat, as such does not smell, it is the bacteria that causes the unpleasant odor. Strangely, people with unpleasant body odor are unable to smell their own body odor.
Profuse sweating sometimes occurs due to a condition called hyperhidrosis. It usually starts around puberty and is quite common. It may occur only on certain body sites such as palms, soles, underarms, or all over the body. The condition gets aggravated with anxiety, high ambient temperatures, spicy food, exercise etc. As teens are going through a difficult phase in their lives, they get hyper anxious. Nervous people tend to sweat more. Also, the tendency to excessively sweat may run in the family. Hormonal problems, obesity, respiratory failure, drugs, Parkinson?s disease can all be associated with hyperhidrosis.
